Ashgabat literally means “City of Love”.
There are lots of sights to see in Ashgabat which became the capital city of Turkmenistan in 1881.
Unfortunately Ashgabat was destroyed by a strong midnight earthquake in 1948 and was rebuilt afterwards.
This capital city is located in the southern part of the country, just 50km (30 miles) away from Iranian border.
Now, Ashgabat became a “White City” by using 4.5 million square meters (48 million square feet) of white marbles which is registered in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Ashgabat has another beautiful look after sunset with nicely illuminated views of changing colors.
